About the Recipe

Pav Bhaji is an Indian fast food (Street food) dish that originated in Maharashtra (Mumbai). It is vegetables mix served with a roasted buttery pav, most popular, hottest selling, widely loved street food.

Ingredients

For prepration :

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons butter

  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 3-4  onions finely chopped

  • 2 teaspoons Ginger Garlic Paste

  • 1  green chilies chopped

  • 3 tomatoes pureed

  • 1 capsicum chopped

  • 4 potatoes

  • 1 cup chopped cauliflower

  • ¾ cup chopped carrots

  • ¼ cup chopped french beans,

  • optional ½ cup green peas, fresh or frozen

  • ½ teaspoon SPICEBAY® turmeric powder

  • 1 to 1.5 teaspoons SPICEBAY® Red chilli powder Mild

  • 3 tablespoons SPICEBAY® Pav Bhaji Masala


  • 1.5 cups water

  • salt as required

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons butter – to add later

  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves (cilantro)

Preparation

Preparation:

Step 1

Pressure cook potatoes, cauliflower, peas, beans and carrot along with 1 cup of water, till soft. Mash all the cooked vegetables using a masher.


Step 2

Heat oil & butter in a vessel, add the green chillis and onions and saute till the onions turn golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off. Add capsicum and saute for 2 mins.


Step 3

Add SPICEBAY® Red chilli powder, SPICEBAY® turmeric powder, SPICEBAY® Pav Bhaji masala. Combine well. Add tomato puree and cook until it reduces and oil is released, approx 5-6 mins.


Step 4

Add the mashed vegetables along with a cup of the drained vegetable stock and cook on high flame for a minute. Reduce flame and simmer for 14-15 minutes


Step 5

The gravy will begin to thicken. Adjust the salt, if required. Turn off heat and add butter and lemon juice and combine. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.


Step 6

Serve hot with lightly toasted pav and sliced onions.
